«Water is central to alleviating poverty. Some 13 percent of the world´s population – over 800 million people – do not have enough food and water to live healthy and productive lives,» is stated in the executive summary of the most comprehensive assessment to date of freshwater resources, the 2nd UN World Water Development Report. Water and Food are the indispensable, existential needs of man. The struggle against hunger, malnutrition and the insufficient supply with water is a hard and complex task. Mr. Jean Ziegler, the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food, is at the forefront against this scourge.
